vodka

If life gives you lemons, add Vodka.

Whether its your spirit of choice or not, you probably know at least a little bit about vodka. The origin of vodka is sharply debated between the Polish and the Russians, but each region has their own variation and spin on the spirit. Vodka is the neutral spirit. Whereas tequila, rum, gin, and whiskey all have distinctive flavors and palettes; vodka is pretty plain. Beyond the myriad rainbow of flavored vodkas out there, vodka comes down to the temperature consumed, what its distilled from, and in what style it is being consumed. Vodka can be distilled from pretty much anything, but the two most common sources are grains and potatoes. Potato vodka is seen as slightly sweeter whereas grain vodka is “cleaner” and more easily paired with foods. Small batch and premium vodka has absolutely exploded into the world of spirits and continues to grow each year.
